We offer the most experienced pet care in the metropolitan Springfield area, after working in the Pet Care Industry since 1959 in Missouri, then as Owners of Dal Acres Kennels in Springfield, IL. Since 1983. We are Family owned and operated and are recommended by pet owners and top veterinarians in the area.
Working with and caring for your pets and giving them personal attention is a way of life for us. We are also long time breeders of champion show dogs. Our own pets and show dogs utilize the same sparkling clean facilities offered to the public. We are the home of Dogwood Acres Akitas and Pembroke Welsh Corgis. One of our dogs, Ch. Dogwood Acres American Sumo, who was bred and raised at Dal Acres, was ranked by the American Kennel Club as the #4 Akita in the nation in 2004 at 3 years of age. See "Akita Photos" link below.
Each dog has a private, 56 sq. ft. enclosure that is SAFE, SANITARY and COMFORTABLE. Pets are handled by caring, experienced staff and kennel owners' family. Many of the pets who board with us are repeat visitors who are happy and comfortable with our kennel staff, and are a testimony to the loving, personal care they receive at Dal Acres Kennels. Visitors are welcome at any time during business hours without an appointment to tour our facilities. Drop by for a visit!
The Cattery is well separated from the dog boarding area and provides roomy, safe, comfortable space for each cat. Our own Bengal and Maine Coon cats often spend quality time in our cat rooms. We are cat lovers and believe in our "Kitty guests" receiving lots of personal attention.
At pet owner's option, INDIVIDUALIZED Playtime is available for both dogs and cats in 15 minute segments. Dogs have a large, secure playtime area outside where one kennel technician devotes his entire attention to one dog unless owner requests pets from the same family have Playtime together. This insures your pet's safety and enjoyment.
Cats are allowed supervised freedom of the entire cattery, one at a time, with the undivided attention of a staff person, to play, cuddle, be brushed, or to enjoy other personalized activities.
Daycare is available for both dogs and cats, with or without Optional Playtime, at a VERY REASONABLE cost.
Our rates are reasonable and highly competitive: SMALL DOGS (Under 14" from shoulder to floor) are $15 per day. MEDIUM DOGS (14" to 22" from shoulder to floor) are $16.50 per day and LARGE/GIANT DOGS (Over 22" from shoulder to floor) are $18 per day. CATS are $13.50 per day. You are charged for the day your pet checks in and are NOT charged for the day your pet checks out if Check-out time is before 1:00 pm. If the pet is being bathed or groomed on the day of departure, there is no boarding charge for that day regardless of pickup time.
DAYCARE is $11.00 per day for both Dogs and Cats. DAYCARE with one PLAYTIME is $12.50 per day and DAYCARE with two PLAYTIMES is $14.00 per day.
Dal Acres West is a state of the art all indoor facility with central heating and radiant heat in the floors in winter and central air in the warm weather. Pets are clean, comfortable and well cared for with lots of personal attention by experienced staff who are quickly familiar to them.
We offer highly experienced, talented all-breed groomers who will trim pets with care and professionalism at reasonable prices six days per week.
Bathing, brushing, nail care and flea control are also offered Monday through Saturday during business hours.

Our OFFICES are closed on SUNDAYS and National Holidays, but the pet care staff are present in the kennels and catteries seven days per week including holidays to care for the pets.

We are very concerned with cleanliness and sanitation in addition to the emotional well- being of the pets entrusted to our care. So that you can feel comfortable knowing your pet will not be exposed to disease while at our facilities:
All dogs are required to be current on Distemper/Parvo, Rabies and Bordatella Vaccinations.
Cats must be current on Rabies and Feline Distemper.
Pets are inspected for fleas and treated if needed before entering kennel or cattery
The Kennels and Catteries are scrubbed daily and disinfected with hospital grade disinfectant and bleach and are kept fresh and clean.
